Bromley East Charter School  is committed to providing a safe learning and work environment where all members of the school community are treated with dignity and respect. The schools in the district are subject to all federal and state laws and constitutional provisions prohibiting discrimination on the basis of a protected status, including disability, race, creed, color, sex, sexual orientation, ,gender identity, pregnancy or related conditions, national origin, religion, ancestry or need for special education services, or any other applicable status protected by federal, state, or local law. Accordingly, no otherwise qualified student, employee, applicant for employment or member of the public may be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to unlawful discrimination under any district program or activity on the basis of race, color, national origin, ancestry, creed, religion, sex (which includes marital status and pregnancy or related conditions), sexual orientation ,or any other applicable status protected by federal, state, or local law. disability or need for special education services. Discrimination against employees and applicants for employment based on age (40 or older), genetic information, and conditions relating to pregnancy or childbirth is also prohibited in accordance with state and/or federal law. The School provides equal access to the Boy Scouts and other designated youth groups, as required by law.

In compliance with the Colorado Crown Act, any references in any handbooks or policies of the School or practices related to prohibiting discrimination on the basis of an individual’s race shall include a person’s hair texture, hair type, hair length, or a protective hairstyle that is commonly or historically associated with race. Specifically, without limitation, such hairstyles as braids, locs, twists, tight coils or curls, cornrows, Bantu knots, Afros, and headwraps.

The School does not discriminate on the basis of sex and prohibits sex discrimination in any education program or activity that it operates, as required by Title IX and its regulations, including in admission and employment. Inquiries about Title IX may be referred to the School’s Title IX Coordinator, the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights, or both.
